Post crash pictures

Yesterday I went to the crash site. The N9832G was still lying on his back attracting curious locals. I took couple pictures to have some king of documentation of something that was “my” plane just couple of days ago.

As you can see it touched down on all three points, then apparently bounced back into the air and landed nose wheel first which in conjunction with very soft, muddy ground caused flip over.

Interesting thing is that damage is mostly limited to the vertical stabilizer, engine cowling and one wing.

The passenger compartment is almost intact

which is quite assuring thing. Looks like C172‘s engineers did really good job.

Unfortunately, due to its age it will be totaled by the insurance company – repair cost is way bigger than it’s market value.

I’ll be watching NTSB site to learn what went wrong. I’m especially curious as one – I was flying this airplane and the engine could easily quit on me, two – it was freshly remanufactured engine with just around 100h on it.
