Long time, no damage
Today the weather was so beautiful I couldn’t stop myself from going to the airport. Calm wind, almost unlimited visibility with clear sky and temperature around 60 degrees just asked to fly. So I set everything straight at work and headed towards the airport.
The plan for today was to train soft and short field landings. I will spare you details but I did few of them and made myself sure I still can’t do them properly. But I’m getting there.
Here you can see short movie presenting some of my touchdowns. After watching it couple of times I have to say that they are worse than I thought they were, but still I’m quite pleased with the results.
The most interesting things happened after the lesson. First is that I broke the airplane… again.
On my way back to the hangar I managed to break trim. The handle snapped and turned freely without any effects on the trim tab or trim indicator. Don said it has to be something simply and trivial and that it should be able to fly again soon. Possible tomorrow.
Edit: It’s been over two weeks now and ‘my’ Cherokee is still grounded. Current forecast says it probably will be done by Wednesday.
But even more interesting thing is that Terry decided it’s time to go to the next point in our syllabus. Next time we’re going to fly to Cedar Rapids (KCID) to do required class C work (10 takeoffs and landings). It’s gonna be fun!
